TANKING UP

In view of our water challenges, I wanted to install a water tank on my property to have back-up water in hand to flush toilets and the like, but due to another challenging situation, ie finances, I had to resort to other wise creative solutions. I found a scrap chest freezer and sealed the inside joints, rendering it waterproof, fitted a tap near the bottom and then diverted the downpipes from my roof into the chest freezer. An overflow to the drain completed the story. Collecting rainwater is one solution, but it can simply be used as a back-up water supply, filling it from the mains in readiness.
