CATCH A FALLING LEAF

I wasn’t prepared to pay R300 to R600 for a leaf catcher on a downpipe, so I decided to make my own. From a hardware store, I purchased the following: a gutter outlet, two gutter stopends, a small amount of plastic gecko netting and a small tube of PVC weld. Total cost: R95.

I glued the two stopends to both sides of the gutter outlet and covered the hole with the plastic netting, not forgetting to fill any gaps with sealer. It can be attached anywhere on the down pipe as long as you can reach to clear it. It works like a charm. Of course, you can put it higher up.

The photos show: 1. What you need. 2. Finished product. 3. Where to put it.
