THE TECH PAGE

Now that winter’s on the way out, here are a few gadgets you may want to get your hands on before summer is in full swing.

BOOSTED MINI S

I admit to silently ridiculing the adults I see riding Boosted electric skateboards. Would you want to see one of these things leaning against the wall below your attorney’s law degree? But try one, and you’ll see they’re too much fun for you to care who sees you. The new Boosted Mini S gets 11 km+ of range and will hit 29 km/h. More important, it’s the first Boosted board small enough to stash under a desk. For fun per rand, I’ll take one of these over a drone any day.

OLLOCLIP

Olloclip has finally made an iphone X version of its snap-on lens rig. Of the base kit’s three lenses, I use the super-wide the most. It broadens the camera’s field of view to 120 degrees, so the same-size photo captures more of the scene.

NEBULA CAPSULE

Unlike most other compact projectors, the Nebula is bright and loud enough for outdoor movie nights. And it boasts a Wifi connection, so it will play Netflix all on its own for over two hours, no fumbling with an HDMI or charge cable required.

JABRA ELITE 65T

After years of junk, junk finally, fi non-apple no A wireless earbuds good enough to recommend. They’re water-resistant, and the noise-blocking feature is adjustable, so you can listen for flight announcements without removing them.

GOPRO HERO

No, 1440p resolution won’t cut it for pro Youtubers. But for the rest of us, the HERO has all the necessities, like waterproofing and voice control. At this price, buying one is so much better than risking losing your snazzy smartphone to a lake.
