Zee TV turned 20 in style

BOLLYwood pay television station, Zee TV, celebrated 20 years of broadcasti­ng with a grand awards show in Mumbai, India, on Saturday night.

The annual event, ZEE Rishtey Awards, hosted new and old television actors associated with the brand, in a night of spectacula­r entertainm­ent.

The much-awaited show paid tribute to the ‘relationsh­ips’ created by the global channel, acknowledg­ing characters of popular daily soaps.

The team of Punar Vivah bagged seven awards, including Shashi Mittal (Best Story), Usha Dixit (Best Dialogues), Kratika Sengar and Gurmeet Choudhary (Most Popular Face).

The big joint family, Scindhia Parivaar was awarded the Best Parivar Award.

Other winners included Phir Subah Hogi (Favourite Mata Pita), Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke (Favourite Behan) and Qubool Hai (Favourite Bhai).

The awards night featured several performanc­es by popular Zee TV stars. Ankita Lokhande, Kratika Sengar, Narayani Shastri and Vindhya Tiwari, performed a sensationa­l aerial act whilst Rithvik Dhanjani, Gurmeet Choudhary and Nandish Sandhu, had audiences enthralled with daredevil stunts.

Multi-talented artist, Sonu Nigam, who began his career as host of Sa Ra Ga Ma Pa in 1995, hosted the event with required aplomb and impromptu song routines.

Sonu said: “You can never thank the one who gives you your first break enough. My associatio­n with Zee TV, over the years, has been extremely rewarding. So, when the team approached me to return as a host for Zee Rishtey Awards, I looked at it as a way of saying a heartfelt thanks to the channel.”
