Lotus listeners lost to Hindvani

-

IT seems inevitable that the SABC board will be dissolved by the parliamentary committee. It is long overdue that all the shenanigans going on within the public broadcaster come to an end.

The dissolution should also bring an end to the controversial reign of Hlaudi Motsoeneng.

Lotus fm suffered the most, with the station losing almost a third of its listenership. This was mainly due to broadcasting 90% local talent and 10% overseas.

Maybe this ratio content would work for the other stateowned radio stations, but with Lotus, that caters mainly for Indian listeners, it backfired.

I, like many other listeners, only listen to the Lotus talk shows and news content. I usually tune in to Radio Hindvani, which should be commended for its quality radio presentations, especially the music content.

On a lighter note, St Peter was greeting disciples at the Pearly Gates, and as each one walked in and related how much they did to promote the word of God, they were welcomed .

Then in walked Cloudy What’s-his-name. St Peter rushed to him and hugged and kissed him and gave him a warm welcome, unlike the other disciples, who then asked St Peter why Cloudy got such a warm welcome.

St Peter responded by saying Cloudy was the principal operating officer (POO) at SABC, and in one day he put the fear of God in so many SABC employees – what you guys have been trying all your lives to do. VIJAY SEWTAHAL
