Date set for Miss UniWorld SA show

- STAFF REPORTER

THE Miss UniWorld SA contest, open to unmarried women between the ages 18 and 28, will take place on August 12 at Durban City Hall.

Pageant chief executive Anusha Bisaal said the concept was born locally to create a platform of uniting nations through diversity.

“It is through pageants of this nature that we transform the norms of pageantry and focus on matters that will uplift our country and the world at large,” said Bisaal.

“Our target market is dynamic young ladies, with no children and from all race groups, who have the ability to be ambassadors and youth leaders.”

The pageant, she said, diverts from the norms of pageantry. “It aims to promote beauty from within, beauty with a purpose and beautiful people beautifying the lives of many.

“Each finalist is encouraged to use the platform to serve within their community and engage in upliftment programmes.”

Bisaal said their first supporting social responsibility project was The Princess D Menstrual Cup.

“The sanitary products will assist underprivileged girls, who cannot afford sanitary pads. This product is reusable, with a 10-year lifespan.

“The Miss UniWorld SA finalists will engage as ambassadors, raising funds to purchase these products, presenting talks on usage and donate to the less fortunate in rural areas. The ripple effect on the cause and support is bound to transform the lives of many young girls.”

The winner of the Miss UniWorld SA will represent the country at the Miss Uniworld global pageant later this year.
