Bringing a wealth of experience

-

HAVING played first- class cricket for KwaZulu-Natal and moved steadily through the coaching ranks at the union, Desigan Reddy will join the KwaZulu- Natal Cricket Union (KZNCU) in the position of Coaching Manager with immediate effect.

Reddy has been involved in coaching at KZNCU and KZN Inland for just under ten years, after a stint in the corporate world that followed his playing days, and his track record speaks for itself as assumes the position vacated by Yashin Ebrahim.

The 37-year-old fills a dual role at the KZN Inland Cricket Union as the Academy coach, as well as Coaching Manager, and is excited by the opportunity to return to Sahara Stadium Kingsmead and add value through his experience and expertise.

“I have coached at many different levels through the years from school cricket through to the amateur team with Roger Telemachus,” Reddy mentioned. “I am grateful that I was given a position where I can get involved and, perhaps, do things a little differently. There are areas where I feel we were being held back.

“Changing the mindsets of people is one of my main aims and, with the coaches that we have, we are going to be able to move the union and the Hollywoodbets Dolphins forward.”

Joining a group of coaches with the drive and knowledge of Grant Morgan and Roger Telemachus is an exciting challenge for Reddy, along with guiding newly appointed Dolphins Academy coach, Mdudusi Mbatha.

“It is always valuable to have experienced coaches to work with, the key is to try and pool that experience together and make it work for us.

“A guy like Duzi (Mbatha) has already been bouncing a lot of ideas off us and it’s great to see how proactive he is being,” he added.
