getting HOOKED

-

ROCK AND SURF

FROM Kozi Bay to Cape Vidal, there have been a lot of stumpies, pompano, bone fish and even a few speckled snappers all of which have been picking up chokka, prawn, sea lice and mussel.

Cape Vidal to Richards Bay has had a rather flat sea and nice fishing conditions. There have been quite a few brown rays as well as a few black fin and Zambezi sharks.

From Richards Bay South to Tugela, there have been snapper salmon and big kob coming out on chokka baits and live baits on the outgoing tide.

There have also been milkies coming out on the low tide on most baits.

From Tugela to Ballito there been some big kob coming out in the evenings on big live baits such as small grunter.

Closer to Ballito there have been stumpies and pompano.

THE COAST

The Amanzimtoti area has been rather active with many reports of nice edible fish: lots of kob and garrick.

Scottburgh has had its fair share of activity with reports of garrick in the mornings and kob coming out on paddle tails and live bait.

Shelly Beach to Margate has had reports of game species coming out on live shad and sardine baits.

DURBAN HARBOUR

There have been many reports of decent fish being caught on bait as well as on artificial baits.

Centre bank has been one of the most productive areas with quality grunter coming out in the evenings.

Live mullet have been the live bait of choice for kob in the evenings and garrick in the day.

When fishing with live bait for garrick, it’s not necessary to use a heavy sinker as they feed in all water columns, unlike kob which feed in deeper water closer to the bottom.

Until next week… TIGHT LINES!
