Accused’s mom murdered

- JANINE MOODLEY

HER Nirvana home in Polokwane untouched, the motive for the brutal murder of Mahejeen Banu Patel remains a mystery.

Mahejeen, 51, is the mother of Polokwane businessman Rameez Patel, who is accused of murdering his wife, Fatima two years ago.

His dad, Feroz Patel, 54, was shot and killed in August last year, raising questions about a possible hit on the family. Police have remained tightlipped about investigations.

Mahejeen died in hospital moments after a gunman opened fire on her and her domestic worker last Tuesday night.

The domestic worker miraculously escaped uninjured.

It has been a 13-month wait for friends and family who are still waiting for police to find the killers responsible for Feroz’s death.

He was shot at while driving and chased until he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a brick wall.

Rameez’s wife was 28 when she was shot and killed in the couple’s Nirvana complex in 2015. Shot in the face, her skull and cheekbones were said to have been shattered by the bullet. She was also strangled.

Rameez was arrested for his wife’s murder but pleaded not guilty when he appeared in the Limpopo High Court. The trial is currently ongoing. Rameez is also accused of killing Westenburg resident, Tony Adams with a hockey stick in 2013.
