Moosa family gives rehab centre a boost

- – Sport Reporter

THE Durban branch of the Association for the Physically Challenged received a welcome boost in the form of gym and rehabilitation equipment courtesy of good Samaritans.

The equipment is valued at about R70 000.

The gym equipment used for rehabilitation purposes were outdated and an impassioned plea was made to the non-profit organisation the Gifted Hope Foundation.

The foundation called local philanthropists Abdul Razak and Shereen Moosa, who assisted with the project.

As a family, they have had to overcome many obstacles – their daughter Ghazala has cerebral palsy.

Abdul Razak Moosa said: “Society today takes so much for granted and very few people take the time to consider the plight of those who face difficulties, often not of their making, and for us this was an ideal opportunity to make a significant difference in these young lives; an opportunity to show them that there are people who do care about them.”

The association’s provincial director, Leslie Dietrich, added: “This is a day of celebration and thanksgiving for the muchneeded equipment for our rehabilitation centre and the overwhelming generosity and thoughtfulness of our sponsor Mr Moosa in identifying the importance of the work being carried out by the association. This valuable donation ensures that our endeavours to maintain this service to persons with physical disabilities is enhanced and continues.”
