A ‘Heart to Heart’ session
LEGENDARY Bollywood actress Zeenat Aman will take to the stage in a live talk show on Saturday at the iZulu Theatre at Sibaya at 7.30pm.
Billed as Heart to Heart, Aman, Hindi cinema’s first Indo-Western star, will take her audience through the journey of her career in Bollywood, with Varshan Sookhun.
She will also be honoured with the Scorpion Design Lifetime Achievement Award for her contribution to Hindi cinema.
Speaking to Aman said: “My first trip to South Africa was many, many years ago in Kumar Sanu’s concert and we hardly had a chance to meet the audience. I am very excited about Heart to Heart as it is in a more intimate venue and I will be able to speak to my fans so closely.”
She said she had had many wonderful years in the Indian film industry and went from girlhood to womanhood in the business.
“I was very lucky that during the years I spent here, I worked with talented actors, writers, directors and technicians, all of whom were at the peak of their creativity. I want to share all this and more with my fans at the concert. I have especially asked the promoter for an open mic session, so I can speak to many of my fans – heart to heart.”
“Desi Talk” columnist and singer Shashika Mooruth will complement the talk show with renditions of hit songs from Aman’s movies, including Dum Maro Dum, Chura Liya and Satyam Shivam Sundaram. Mooruth said the event would coincide with Mother’s Day, on May 13.
Mooruth will release her album of romantic songs, titled Heart to Heart. Songs were composed by prominent composers Babul Bose, Neeraj Sridhar (Bombay Viking) and Rajeev Mahavir.
Last week veteran singer Anup Jalota launched the album in Mumbai.
