Dry Fish Chutney & Braised Mealie Rice

¼ cup oil

6 grated tomatoes 1 onion

8 green chillies Curry leaves

4 small pieces of dry fish ½ tsp turmeric

2 tsp masala

¼ tsp sugar

Salt

4 boiled eggs

Fry dry fish in oil. When the oil turns brown, remove the dry fish and put it in the grated tomatoes. In the same dry fish oil, fry your onions.

When almost fried, add chillies and curry leaves, then add turmeric and masala. Mix and add your tomatoes with the dry fish, salt and sugar. Cover and cook on medium to high heat.

When done, add your boiled eggs.

Braised Mealie Rice:

2 cup mealie rice

1 tsp turmeric powder Salt

2 tbs butter

3 tbs oil

1 onion

4 dried chillies

1 tsp jeera

Boil mealie rice with salt and turmeric. When the water starts to thicken, then start cooking on low heat. Add water and mix as it starts to dry, until it’s cooked.

Add 2 tbs butter when done. In another pan, fry the onion, dry chillies and jeera with oil, until the onion is brown.

When done mix into the mealie rice.
