Crime rampant throughout the Fiona Street area

-

RESIDENTS are under siege from crime in the Fiona Street area, in Mobeni Heights.

Four house robberies in one week are worrying.

People are no longer safe within the confines of their homes. We have recently seen the rise in crime, which is totally out of control.

These criminals are riding the crest of a wave, stealing and intimidating with impunity.

This is unacceptable, and this type of crime can be summarised as being that the law does nothing or too little.

From that perspective, I can totally understand the frustration residents encounter.

The big question is: who’s next? We have a real crisis in our area. These criminals are walking the streets, freely preying on the vulnerable. Something drastic needs to be done before an innocent life is lost.

My plea to the head of our community forum, Aslam Kudoos, is to seek help from the station commander, Colonel Balram, of Bayview Police, to arrest these criminals and it should be made a priority.

The police must put all their effort into ensuring that these criminals are caught and justice must be served harshly in order to send an unequivocal message to our once peaceful area, which needs this now, more than ever.

Finally, I would like to send a big thank you to Sebastian Nasan from the Parks Department for clearing the thick undergrowth in our area, which will deter criminals, and not forgetting Warrant Officer Kevin Nair of the Bayview Police Station.

I don’t think you know how great you are. I believe you will make headway in arresting the perpetrators.
