Q: Which meal and dessert would you eat on Valentine’s Day, and why?
A:
My one meal would be Three Cup Chicken, which is a Taiwanese dish that is named for the one cup of rice wine, one cup of soy sauce and one cup of sesame oil that go into making it.
It was the meal that my husband and I shared on our first date and it’s still a favourite.
For dessert, I want a variety of mochi because I am currently obsessed with it.
I think the strawberries and cream, and the tiramisu mochi would be the perfect sweet, but not too sweet, ending to the meal.
Q: What is your favourite love song and romantic movie, and why do these hold a special place?
A:
My favourite love song is Your Side by Sade. I love it because besides just being a beautiful song, it’s about a deep enduring love, no matter the circumstances.
It resonates with me personally because it reflects the type of love I have for my husband and my kids.
I’m a romantic and believe in happily ever afters, so I am a romcom-aholic.
It’s difficult to choose just one movie but City of Angels is up there on the list along with the 1995 version of Sabrina with Harrison Ford and Julia Ormond.
Q: Who is your relationship role model and why?
A:
While I think every relationship around me has something I can learn from and implement in my own marriage, the biggest influence in my life has certainly been my parents, Allan and Kanaga Latchmanna.
They celebrate 50 years of marriage this year and from them, I have learnt about resilience and growing a relationship and family based on faith.
I have also discovered the importance of patience and the power of showing empathy and understanding to your partner to create a long-lasting relationship.
Q: What would an ideal Valentine’s Day gift be?
A:
A weekend at a hotel, room service and massages and just lazing and binge-watching series on Netflix or Disney Plus.
As a mom of three, and being a small business owner, life is always a mad rush, so a weekend of pampering and laziness is my idea of heaven.
Q: Dream romantic destination and why?
A:
The Amalfi Coast in Italy. It ticks all the boxes of a dream destination for me. Scenic beauty and the chance to enjoy a luxurious hotel.
There’s the opportunity to do sightseeing in the town, there are medieval buildings and cute boutique shops to splurge in as well.
Lastly, there is the most beautiful beach and it’s Italy, so the food will be amazing.
