DA dancing to Malema’s tune?

-

THE continued unrest at our universities is going to affect thousands of matric pupils | if a solution is not found soon.

Some institutions have already warned that next year’s intake of students may have to be cancelled if classes do not resume soon.

If the current academic year is suspended, the consequences would be dreadful. This means that no new students will be accepted next year, resulting in a high drop-out rate among vulnerable students who cannot afford to extend their studies next year.

Other ramifications are university staff retrenchments, a possible drop in South Africa’s economic growth, added strain on education and health sectors, which rely on graduates, and less income from first-year fees, which will result in a cash flow crisis leading to cutbacks in research and the collapse of study-abroad programmes.

In the midst of all this, the official opposition party, the DA, are nowhere to be seen.

Since it went into an alliance with the EFF, it seems the DA is dancing to Julius Malema’s tune. TREVOR MUNEIN
