Singh and team to be commended
THE editorial view in POST, “Unite against land invasions”, is frightening and true.
Today it’s Chatsworth, tomorrow it’s uMhlanga. Recently, deputy mayor Fawzia Peer met with concerned residents to address the issue of land invasion in Chatsworth.
The community must be commended for the work they have done thus far in ensuring vigilant monitoring and effective communication with the SAPS and metro police. It is also good to note the community are standing together in these trying times to stop the land invasion that is affecting residents.
The municipality needs to take full responsibility and secure all the residents’ properties by having full-time security to stop land grabs.
If the residents are overpowered by land invaders, our future is doomed.
Land invasion destroys social and economic cohesion. The government must take responsibility and address land reform by providing substantial housing for the poor.
Special thanks must go to Jakes Singh and his team, and all the residents who are tackling the problem head-on by taking time to patrol the affected areas at night.
This is a great sacrifice one has to make for the future generations. DHAYALAN MOODLEY
