Hazardous road
I AM a resident living in Phoenix and we are simply fed up over the poor maintenance of Crestvale Road, which has turned into a hazard.
We have appealed to the municipality on several occasions to fix the many waterlogged potholes spread over the road. City officials responded to our complaints by assessing the water leaks, but did not repair the leaks.
All they did was dig up the road and have not returned to repair the pipes, or cover the holes they made. We are worried the untarred road could cause accidents.
We have lost count of the number of times we reported the matter to the council.
All we get are reference numbers and nothing else.
As for our local DA ward councillor Tino Pillay, we strongly believe that after last year’s local government elections, he has gone into hibernation. He is simply impossible to get hold of.
A councillor plays a pivotal role in conveying the problems of the electorate to several officials in the eThekwini Municipality whose duties is to implement by-laws of the city.
It appears that residents of Phoenix are being shortchanged because of poor service delivery by the DA, contrary to the promises made during the local government elections.
It seems the DA, which boasts about changing things, is no different from the ANC’s ineptitude and lack of service delivery.
