Lotus FM lost listeners

-

THE article, “Lotus 90/10 quota booted out with Hlaudi” ( POST, June 14-18), where it is reported that the scrapping of the 90/10 rule of axed SABC chief operating officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng promises to turn around the fortunes of Lotus FM, refers.

As a loyal and avid listener of the station, I hope management will give serious thought of how to bring back lost listenership that have migrated to other radio stations, particularly Radio Hindvani.

I would like to suggest that the station introduce a 70% Hindi and a 30% Tamil songs rule. As a South Indian I would love to have a 50/50 mix.

But one must remember that the vast majority of the Tamil-speaking community like to listen to Hindi songs and watch the latest Bollywood films.

It is a fact, and I am sure the management of Lotus FM will confirm this, that Tamil listeners request more Hindi songs than South Indian songs.

So if Lotus FM is serious about bringing back listeners who have shifted to Radio Hindvani, they should adopt the 70/30 mix.
