Champions on cue
The victorious Central Gauteng snooker team at the inaugural East Coast Cup Championship hosted by KZN Snooker in Montclair recently. The visitors, from left, Praveen Nair, Yougash Pillay, Mukesh Daya, Ryan George, Faraad James, Graham Briton, Fakhrie Gierdien and Alvin Harris, beat KZN by 65 frames to 63 over the two-day event. KZN’s Dean Changelryan made the highest break of 83 in the tournament which had two eight-man teams competing on a round robin basis with each player playing two frames against each player from the opposition. The championship was conceptualised as a reciprocal event after KZN for the first time featured in the Walker Cup, an annual Central Gauteng tournament held in Sandton earlier this year. KZN Snooker hope to make this an annual event.
