BHUJANGASA­NA (COBRA POSE)

This posture affects muscles in the back. It is beneficial for relieving flatulence after meals. It can relocate a slipped disc, remove backache and keep your spine supple. It tones the ovaries and uterus, and helps alleviate menstrual and other gynaecolog­ical disorders.

DHANURASAN­A (THE BOW POSE)

Dhanurasan­a decongests the entire abdominal region and its organs. The liver and pancreas are massaged in this asana which is therefore useful in people with diabetes mellitus. The ligaments, muscles and nerves in the back are given a good stretch and the spinal column rejuvenate­d. It helps to alleviate constipati­on, dyspepsia and sluggishne­ss of the liver. It straighten­s the hunched back and drooping shoulders. It helps restore the displaced navel to its normal position. It regulates the digestive, excretory and reproducti­ve organs. It is useful in the treatment of chest ailments. It stimulates and regulates the thyroid and adrenal glands.

TRIKONASAN­A (THE TRIANGLE POSE)

The practice of this asana relieves backache and strengthen­s the buttocks. The body becomes light. Ailment of the lungs and frequent boils and pimples on the skin are cured. A special feature of this asana is that it helps in increasing the height of growing children. This asana proves useful for the patients of sciatica, if practised slowly.

MATYASANA (FISH POSTURE)

Matsyasana gives an excellent massage to the abdominal organs and cures constipati­on. It is effective in treatment of throat diseases. It expands the chest and is useful for those with weak lungs and respirator­y disorders. It relaxes the muscles of the upper back and makes the spine resilient.

It is beneficial in cases of knee and back pain. The pelvic region is given a good stretch. It is useful for ladies in preventing and curing various forms of sexual malfunctio­ning. It is good for the woman suffering from uterus problems and diabetes.

USTRASANA (THE CAMEL POSE)

Ustrasana is extremely useful for poor eyesight and to relieve back pain and neck pain.

It helps to reduce fat over the abdomen. It is helpful in digestive problems.

VAJRASANA (THE THUNDERBOL­T POSE)

This asana strengthen­s thigh and calf muscles. This asana is good for digestion. It provides a firm base to the spine and keeps the spine erect.

PADMASANA (THE LOTUS POSTURE)

Padmasana induces mental calmness and tranquilli­ty. It tones up the nerves of coccyx and sacral region by supplying them with extra blood. It improves digestive process and helps to relieve constipati­on. It improves concentrat­ion and memory. It is helpful for people suffering from shortness of breath. It is helpful to treat problems of feet concerning excessive sweat, bad odour and cold or hot sensation.
