SA’S Most Luxurious Bakkie
When the Volkswagen Amarok was launched some seven years ago, the South African bakkie brigade immediately bayed for a V6 option. South Africans know what they want in a bakkie, and a V6 is simply non-negotiable. At long last Volkswagen has acquiesced as it complied to the wishes of its many followers with an all-new and all-awesome 3.0-litre V6 TDI option. Substantial improvements in power (165 kw plus an additional 15 kw with over-boost) and torque (550 plus an additional 30 Nm with over-boost) combined with a super-smooth eightspeed transmission, the V6 Amarok delivers on every promise it makes.
The 3.0 V6 TDI is available in three specifications: Highline, Highline Plus, and Extreme. The Highline specification adds 18” alloy rims and four 12V power ports, darkened rear lights and an LED number plate light. The luxury specification level, Highline Plus, adds bi-xenon lamps with LED daytime running lights, leather upholstery, automatic headlights and wipers, and the upgraded Discover infotainment system with satellite navigation and Apple Carplay as standard. The Extreme option adds Nappa leather upholstery with contrast stitching; 14-way electrically adjustable front seats with seat heating, a bin lining, 20” alloy rims, and the signature Ravenna Blue metallic paint, and steel styling bars upfront with the option of a colour-coded sports bar on the back.
The new Amarok 3.0 V6 TDI finally takes South Africa’s most luxurious bakkie to a matching performance level, while maintaining the trusted levels of comfort and safety. Until such time as Rolls-royce builds a bakkie, the Amarok looks set to remain the Rolls-royce of bakkies. Pricing starts at R665,700.
