Immerse yourself in the tranquillity of a quaint, ocean-side town and enjoy the ultimate in exclusivity with a stay at luxurious self-catering accommodation – where you can truly sit back and relax in privacy and space, while enjoying sea views.

One of the oldest fishing villages on the West Coast, just a 90-minute drive from Cape Town, is Paternoster. This charming town features cosy cafés, both fine dining and homely restaurants, hiking trails, a nature park, and many kilometres of unspoiled beaches. Driving into Paternoster, there is a Santorini-like aesthetic thanks to the white walls of the small buildings with its blue accents, mirroring the ocean, which many still rely on for their livelihood.

Adding to this picturesque holiday setting is Abalone Pool Villas; the two villas are additions to the renowned Abalone House, which has been bowling guests over with impeccable service and gorgeous accommodation for years – and Abalone Pool Villas are no different. The two villas each sleep up to four

people – ideal for two couples or a family – and mix the privacy of self-catering with the luxury of a five-star hotel. The bohemian-style of the interior sees hues of reds and blues spanning the spacious, open plan lounge, dining area, and kitchen, with prints of artist Vladimir Tretchikoff’s famous works adorning the walls.

The bedrooms offer plush beds and en suite bathrooms. The large kitchen has all the necessities to create your own feasts to enjoy around the dining table.

Coffee pod machines are placed around the house – including the bedrooms and kitchen so that your caffeine fix is never out of reach – and Wi-fi is available. The Internet service perfectly complements the Smart TV in the lounge, so guests are able to gather in the lounge, cosy up on the comfortable couches, and have a movie night. For those cold evenings, a fire can be lit in the fireplace.

However, the best feature of an Abalone Pool Villa is the view. From the lounge, stepping out onto the spacious patio, over the infinity pool, the ocean spreads out into

the horizon. With the drink of your choice in hand, there is no better place to wind down the day. Wherever you are in the villa, the ocean is always within eyesight.

Butler Service

One of the most standout features of a stay at one of the Abalone Pool Villas is the butler service – the first in Paternoster.

If you prefer to relax in the morning and enjoy a continental or full English breakfast in the comfort of your villa, the butler at the villa will be happy to arrange a feast for you to wake up to. The breakfast spread is sure to impress, so, if a guest wishes, the butler service is also available for late afternoon drinks and canapés (an ideal way to end off a glorious day by the sea) as well as for dinner by prior arrangement.

Reuben’s Restaurant

When in Paternoster, and especially if you are staying in one of the Abalone House accommodations, you cannot miss out on a meal at the famous Reuben’s Restaurant.

Celebrated South African chef, Reuben Riffel, added his fine dining stamp to the culinary scene of Paternoster with Reuben’s Restaurant becoming the onsite restaurant of Abalone House in 2013. Breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea can be savoured at the restaurant. Dinner is a memorable occasion, with the compact menu of scrumptious South African favourites paired with either cocktails, wine, French champagne, or one of the brandies or whiskies from the extensive list. Riffel and his team at his Paternoster establishment choose the best local ingredients to create dishes that pay tribute to traditional flavours. Some dinner options include double-baked snoek soufflé with salted apricots, roasted pork belly with chilli-lime and ginger caramel, as well as malva pudding with buttermilk sherbet and Amarula custard.

Relaxing seaside atmosphere, comfortable private accommodation, luxurious facilities, exclusive butler service, and the ultimate in fine dining – the perfect features to create one memorable holiday.
