A Porsche for the Purist

-

The new Porsche 911 Carrera T pays homage to the Porsche 911 T that secured the first victory for Porsche in the Monte Carlo Rally in 1968, which was followed up by three further wins.

With the 911 Carrera T, Porsche is reviving the purist concept behind the 911 T of 1968, with less weight, shorter transmission ratios from the manual gearbox (yes, a manual gearbox!), and rear-wheel drive with mechanical rear differential lock that translates into enhanced performance and intense driving pleasure. Extremely athletic, but understated in its appearance, the 911 Carrera T’s unique appearance is based on the 911, except that the 911 Carrera T weighs 20 kg less than a 911 Carrera with similar equipment.

Every aspect of the equipment in the 911 Carrera T is designed to optimise sportiness, which is reflected in the design of the 911 Carrera T that highlights the emotionality and sportiness of the rear-wheel-drive coupé, both inside and outside.

The 3-litre 6-cylinder flat engine with twin kw and a maximum torque of 450 Nm between 1,750 rpm and 5,000 rpm, which enables the 911 Carrera T to sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) is also available as an option on the Carrera T, enabling the vehicle to reach 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds. Both transmission variants enable a top speed of over 290 km/h.

The new model is easily recognisable thanks to its 20-inch Carrera S wheels in Titanium Grey, and the “911 Carrera T” logos on the in Agate Grey on the rear, and the sports exhaust system with centrally positioned tailpipes painted in black.

An excellent weight-to-power ratio, the inherently superior traction of the rear engine sports car and its exceptional reliability were the keys to the 911 T’s success 50 years ago. These are the same characteristics that still distinguish the 911 Carrera T to this day as it follows the same purist approach of less is more.
