Acleanup campaign and maintenance programme is being rolled out at the Protea Sports Ground in Northdale.

Yashveer Singh, Coaching Manager for KZN Inland Cricket, said there is a tremendous boost for the cause to establish the Protea Sports Park Association.

“The Working Committee met and engaged with the Umgungundlovu District Sports Confederation Executive. Support for the initiative has come from the Honourable Chairman, Vice-chairman and General Secretary, who were all in attendance as the proposal was rolled out. The District Sport Council has given a clear indication that they will appreciate being housed at the Protea Grounds facility. This will be a huge boost for sport as the governance of the federation will take place on our doorstep,” Singh said.

He said they intend to continue engaging and consulting such stakeholders and move closer to accomplishing their goal of returning Protea Sports Park to a “facility which promotes development through sporting excellence.”
