Hope SA foundation cares for Pietermaritzburg

-

Families in Northdale received food parcels and #Saferwomen care packs donated by the Hope SA Foundation recently. Hope SA CEO, Namritha Sivsanker, who is from Pietermaritzburg, said the foundation has assisted more than 30 000 people with cooked food and food parcels, in Pietermaritzburg, Durban and Johannesburg, since the beginning of lockdown.

“Food security for the vulnerable is a priority as COVID-19 has impacted communities and job losses in South Africa are on the rise. The pandemic is a reminder that human beings are vulnerable and there is a need to take care of each other and support one another where possible. We need businesses and corporates to lend a helping hand to help us reach more families in need. It’s a time to give back and, in turn, prevent crime from increasing,” she said.

Women’s month launched the #Saferwomen drive in Johannesburg and Kwazulu-natal. Care packs with education on Genderbased Violence, toiletries, sanitary pads and pepper spray were donated to over 1500 women in August 2020.

The #Saferwomen care packs were distributed in Northdale, together with food parcels, to parents from W A Lewitt Primary School and surrounding areas.

“There is such a need for initiatives that help make a positive impact in society. We need greater compassion and humanity to overcome poverty and abuse. I am grateful to be able to assist and spread hope wherever we go. Be a blessing to others,” said Sivsanker.
