Who is new in government?
Transnet National Ports Authority has appointed Nozipho Mdawe as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Mdawe holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Gordon Institute of Business Science and is currently studying towards a Doctoral degree at the Jomo Kenyatta University in Kenya. She began her career at the Transnet Corporate Office in
2001 and moved to Transnet
Port Terminals in 2004, where she served for three years as the Business Unit Executive. She then moved to Transnet Freight Rail as Area Production Manager for the Gauteng Cluster’s production and operations activities and later became Deputy General Manager for Inland Operations. She has won several awards for her leadership and creating efficient practices in the industry.
Mdawe was promoted and served as General Manager: Mineral Mining and Chrome between 2012 and June 2015. She most recently served as Secretary General of the Port Management Association for Eastern and Southern Africa in Kenya between July 2015 and
April 2018.
Her new role as COO will include overseeing several areas, such as marine services, aviation services and pilotage, port planning, lighthouses, security, emergency management, infrastructure, dredging services, ship repair, port control and port maintenance.
