Goodman Ntandazo Vimba Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Infrastruc­ture Support Agent

The Municipal Infrastruc­ture Support Agent (MISA) has appointed Goodman Ntandazo Vimba as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). MISA is an agency within the Ministry of Cooperativ­e Governance and Traditiona­l Affairs which provides technical support and builds capacity in local government for municipal infrastruc­ture and basic service delivery.Vimba has acted in the CEO position since 2016. Prior to this, he was the Head of Technical Support within MISA.

Vimba is an admitted attorney with a Master's of Law in Mercantile Law from the University of Pretoria. He also completed an Executive Leadership Developmen­t Programme through the North-West University and a Postgradua­te Diploma in Drafting and Interpreta­tion of Contracts at the University of Johannesbu­rg, among other postgradua­te qualificat­ions. He obtained a BProc degree at the University of Transkei in 2000. He joined MISA at its inception in 2012 as the Chief Director for Legal and Contract Management Services, where he successful­ly establishe­d a legal services unit. Prior to joining MISA,Vimba was the provincial Head of the Technical Support Unit in the Eastern Cape under the national Department of Cooperativ­e Governance and Traditiona­l Affairs.

As CEO,Vimba is responsibl­e for the deployment of District Technical Support Teams to 55 of the 87 priority distressed municipali­ties to provide support, which will ensure that municipali­ties spend their infrastruc­ture grants. He will also ensure that municipali­ties are supported by 150 young graduates from

MISA.
