We pulled into Coastal Cashews at exactly 12h00, to find our driver from Isibindi Africa’s Thonga Beach Lodge waiting for us.while the AWD Sportage would have coped well with the hour long drive to the lodge, we opted to grab a ride in the lodge’s vehicle instead so that we could fully drink in the beautiful surroundings.a decision we later celebrated when we caught (and were able to fully enjoy) our first spectacular view of the ocean as we eventually crested the sand dune above the lodge.

LIFE’S A BEACH

Nestled in among the trees of a coastal dune forest lie 12 thatched suites, Robinson Crusoe style … although these are far from rustic tree houses, thanks to the hot showers, air-conditioning, and king size beds.the suites are all connected by wooden walkways, all of which culminate at the restaurant. There is no chance that any guest will go hungry at Thonga … or thirsty for that matter; the wine list and cocktail menu will attest to that.
