TV presenter has 20 fight rivals on the mat

- STAFF REPORTER

TV PRESENTER Jonathan Boynton-Lee showed he was the fittest man on the floor in the action-packed Last Fighter Standing (LFS) challenge at Switch Playground in Lonehill this week.

He kicked dust in the eyes of 20 other contenders, including celebrity fashion designer Gert-Johan Coetzee, Man Cave presenter Janez Vermeiren, comedian Tshepo Mogale, actress Jena Dover, Micasa trumpeter Moshe Kgasoane and “boy band” Rubber Duc, in a finale that saw him go from doing 10 push-ups in 8 seconds to doing tumbles on a trampoline wearing a sumo wrestler fat suit.

The challenge was hosted by Quinton van der Burgh, the chief executive of LFS, the exciting new all-styles martial arts hand-to-hand combat tournament that culminates with the LFS South African national championship at the Ticketpro Dome on October 15.

While Boynton-Lee won a day of spoils that will see him head to Sun City in Van der Burgh’s private helicopter, the winners at the real LFS championships will compete for their share of R1 million.

“I have so much respect for these LFS fighters, who train so much harder than this every single day,” said Boynton-Lee after his winning round.

The day’s challenge saw celebrities, media players and LFS fighters compete in two teams captained by Van der Burgh and Springbok Francois Hougaard.

The road to the finals has been the subject of a reality TV show on e.tv on Monday nights produced by Van der Burgh in partnership with Generosity Water. Tickets for the LFS South African national and 4-nations championship are for sale at the Ticketpro Dome.
