Virtual contest delivers the real thing Supa Quick

- SPECIAL WRITER

SUPA QUICK turns 30 this year and its birthday celebration needed to stand out from all the noise ahead of the festive season, which is exactly what the #SupaFun campaign, that launched recently, achieves.

As part of its birthday festivities, Supa Quick is rewarding its customers for their support and giving away 12 000 virtual reality headsets with purchases valued at R4 000 or more.

But that alone wouldn’t initiate the excitement among consumers that Supa Quick was hoping to generate. They needed a big 30th idea.

Artifact Advertising client service director Sandy Smith says: “To create hype around the virtual reality experience that consumers can get with these goggles, the client needed a campaign that offered the chance to actually bring these experiences to life.”

The idea was born: To bring virtual reality to real life by creating amazing experiences – initially on the VR goggles to be enjoyed by all – and then by translating those experiences into real-life adventures to be won.

Smith says fans are being offered the chance to win these real life activities, from treetop zip-lines to gallops on horseback

“To explain the virtual-reality story, videos were shot from a ‘first person’, immersive perspective to showcase the types of real life experiences consumers can win through Gift Experiences SA on the Supa Quick website.”

The videos were shot using Go-Pro cameras and brand new 360º VR footage to truly bring the “first person”, completely immersive – or stereoscopic – experience to life.

After watching and engaging with the videos, visitors can win Gifting Experience vouchers that allow them to enjoy these escapades with friends.

The birthday campaign needs to increase awareness for Supa Quick’s 30th birthday, get feet in-store and improve website conversion rates through engaging content online. The #SupaFun campaign promises to do exactly that.

• The TVC prompting viewers to visit Supa Quick and get their free VR goggles is supported by in-store, digital and social media.
