Mobile app makes money talk

-

WITH the aim of inspiring South Africans to see money differently, Nedbank has used digital technology to educate consumers using two things in their pockets: their money and their mobile device.

Nedbank has introduced the mobile app Shazam to make money talk through educational content that delivers a compelling message about the way we can empower ourselves to achieve more, and change the way we look at and think about money.

“One of the reasons only six percent of the population will retire happily is limited financial knowledge. Nedbank’s purpose as an economic enabler is to use our financial expertise to do good for individuals, families, businesses and society,” says Thulani Sibeko, Nedbank’s group executive of marketing, communications and corporate affairs.

Nedbank has used five authentic South African stories to inspire you to see how wellmanaged money can make a real difference in your life. Accompanied by useful money tips, these stories will be found in all five South African banknotes.

You do this by opening the Shazam app, tapping on the camera icon, and hovering the camera lens over a banknote, which will “unlock” the story.

However, do not post a picture of yourself “shazaming” a South African note or photos of money, because the South African Reserve Bank could interpret this as the reproduction or copying of a note, which is illegal. – Staff Reporter
