Double-day of fabulous football

- HEIN KAISER

IT’S A tournament of surprises thus far and this weekend will likely be no different.

This year’s World Cup kicked off just over a week ago and already there have been some curious results, with Argentina’s draw against Iceland and their loss to Croatia on Thursday night, Brazil’s level score with Switzerland, and Germany coming second to Mexico. Prepare for a double-day of exciting football.

World Sports Betting says Germany are still expected to go through to the next round and are 2nd favourites to win their group at 3/1 behind Mexico, who are 6/10, Sweden are 37/10 and the Republic of Korea are priced at 53/1.

Belgium and Tunisia play this weekend. The Belgians overcame a sluggish start to score three second-half goals to beat Panama 3-0 in their opening match.

The result confirmed the Belgium team as one of the favourites and can wrap up qualification if they win against Tunisia.

Tunisia came from behind to level against England 1-1 only to lose to an injury time winner.

The African side are now under massive pressure and desperately need to get something out of this game.

Belgium are favourites to top Group G at 11/20 with England at 12/10, Tunisia and Panama are given no hope and are 79/1 and 164/1 respectively. World Sports Betting notes that Bookmakers favour a Belgium, England, Tunisia finishing order in the group and that is priced at 13/10.

On Sunday, England takes on Panama with the English tipped to win at 9/2 and betting on Panama for a win at 12/1 at the time of writing.

The odds on overall winner have changed significantly since first kickoff. Germany, one of the firm favourites at 9/2 have slipped in probability, according to bookmakers with odds of 8/1 indicating slimmed chances. Brazil remains firm favourites at 4/1 with France (7/1), Spain (9/2) favoured ahead of the Germany, Belgium and England (8/1) at level betting.
