Girls show their colours

SENIOR school academic awards at St Andrew’s School for Girls are calculated on the subject year mark achieved at the end of the 2018 academic year. Girls must have written the November examinatio­ns to be eligible for an award.

◆ Junior colours for academics are presented to pupils who achieved

80% or above in nine or more learning areas in Grade 8. Alisha Calitz, Kayla Grobler, Chabu Kambafwile, Shannen Kench, Amelia Maistry, Eryn Meiklejohn, Radiyyah Seedat, Melissa Van Der

Berg, Donna Yates, Yuxin Zhang and

Eva Zuo were all awarded with junior colours for academics.

◆ Junior colours for academics are presented to girls who achieved 80% or above in nine or more learning areas in Grade 9, or have accumulate­d 80% in 18 or more learning areas in grades 8 and 9. Risana Baloyi, Jessica Franklin, Marvelous Aderibigbe, Kayla Chinhakwe, Carolyn Laker, Entle Macoba, Thandeka Makhubu, Elena Mandic, Andzani Mthenjane, Angela Wang and Hae Soo Kim were all awarded with junior colours for academics.

◆ In grades 10 and 11, a minimum of 65% must be achieved for life orientatio­n in order to be eligible for an award. Where life orientatio­n does not count as a subject distinctio­n, additional subjects such as advance programme maths and English do count. Academic half-colours are presented to girls who achieved a minimum of four subject distinctio­ns in their Grade 10 year marks. Charlotte Cannone, Nicole Chetty, Khumo Kgoadi, Gomolemo Moloi, Mbali Musundwa, Shanae Stevens, Sabeeha Suleman and Betty Zhu were all awarded with half-colours.

◆ In grades 10 and 11, a minimum of 65% must be achieved for life orientatio­n in order to be eligible for an award. Kayla Calitz, Aimee Caplan, Emma-nicole Cockbain, Ishika Govan, Sarah Kromhout, Jia Liu, Amukelani Manda, Lihle Ndlovu, Gabrielle Padiachy, Michaela Stavrides, Sarah Thurston, Uchechi Umah, Ugochi Umah, Divina Vaswani, Carina Wen, Georgia Wensley and Hayley White were all awarded with half-colours.

Yi Min Cai, Caitlin Van Der Berg, Sarah Adank ,Ashleigh Berry, Owethu Bukula, Pearl Dumbu, Maaike Hersov, Katherine Hodnett, Myung Sung Kim, Clair Lombard, Sunithi Mistry, Victoria Nel, Shriya Thaansen, Georgina Tregoning, Jing Zhang were all awarded with full colours for academics.
