Covid-19: students threw contest parties

TUSCALOOSA: Rumours of “Covid19 parties” have proven to be true.

Several college students in Alabama have been organising parties as a contest to see who would get the virus first, an official said.

Students hosted the parties to intentionally infect each other, news outlets quoted Tuscaloosa

City councillor Sonya Mckinstry as saying. She said the organisers invited guests who tested positive for the virus.

The students put money in a pot and whoever got Covid-19 first would get the cash.

According to an NBC News report on Thursday quoting the state’s public health website, Alabama confirmed more 10000 coronavirus cases within the past 14 days. There have been 38442 cases in the state since testing began in March. | AP
