Pool star ‘lied to hide drink shame’

-

OLYMPIC champion Ryan Lochte led swimmers in a fight with security after they urinated on a petrol station and vandalised a bathroom, it was alleged on Friday night.

Police in Rio suggested the Olympians might have lied to cover up the fact they were drunk and trying to pick up women. They could face charges for lying to police and destroying property, with the FBI ready to help.

In a dramatic press conference, Police Inspector Alexandre Braga said Ryan Lochte, Jimmy Feigen, Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger were not robbed, as they had claimed, and were not the victims of a crime at a petrol station in Rio shortly after 6am last Sunday.

They said the men were with two women whose identities were unknown. Brazilian other valuables at gunpoint late at night by bandits posing as police.

Hours after police took two of the swimmers off a US-bound flight, officers said the story had been invented to disguise a drunken dispute after they allegedly vandalised a petrol station. An officer was quoted as saying the only true thing the men had said was that they had been drunk. – Daily Mail
