Tapas bar is one to chalk up
but, because we were in a hurry, we could not order more.
We requested the breaded baby sole which, at R54, was a smallish, overcooked fish, topped with an olive tapenade.
We also ordered the zucchini fritti (fried baby marrows), which came with a tzatziki dipping sauce at R35. This, too, was disappointing as they were covered with a thick, unappetising batter.
However, things started improving from there.
The teriyaki sirloin steak with rice noodle was tasty, as was the baked melanzane with parmigiana (baked brinjals with Parmesan cheese) at R49. The Asian-baked pork belly with bok choy at R60 was perfectly cooked – and a generous portion.
The tagliatelle truffle and Parmesan at R55 was also delicious, but could have done with a little more truffle. The highlight was the bucket of six huge prawns at R99.
We didn’t have desserts because of time constraints, but on offer is elder-flower brûlée (R40); chocolate fondant with nougat ice cream (R58) and steamed pineapple pudding with coconut ice cream (R42).
Count on paying about R200 a head, excluding drinks.
