one answered the phone. So we got there early, at 6pm and were were squeezed in, but there was pressure on us to eat as fast as possible because the table had been booked.

There is a good and warm vibe in the restaurant, thanks to the large floor-to-ceiling gas heaters, which not only light up the place, but also keep it warm. There are no menus offered. The tapas food choices are written on two large chalkboard­s and are moved around the restaurant as needed. The waiter who served us, Portia Sibanda, was very friendly and helpful and told us that there is a new menu every week, which makes it interestin­g for the regulars.

She suggested ordering three to four tapas each, but this can get a little costly because the dishes cost, on average, about R50 each.

There were three people at our table and we opted for seven different tapas, which was not quite enough for our male dining partner,
