Court lifts bullfighting ban

LONDON: Spain’s top court yesterday overruled a local ban against bullfighting in Catalonia. The Constitutional Court said it was part of Spanish heritage so only central government had the authority to ban it. Catalonia stirred controversy when it banned the practice in 2010. Catalonia is pushing to hold an independence referendum and secede from Spain next year.
