Kate that got the cream

SHE is always so careful to dress demurely for her royal engagements – but even a duchess can be a little more bold if she’s going to a glitzy film premiere.

The Duchess of Cambridge flashed a daring amount of leg on the red carpet in London last night, wearing a R5 400 crochet off-the-peg maxi dress by Self Portrait that was slashed to the thigh.

But despite her glamorous look, Kate had to contend with another, rather unlikely star for the limelight – the premiere of A Street Cat Named Bob was attended by the film’s star, the ginger cat Bob.

The duchess gave him a quick scratch behind the ears, but playing the diva, 11-yearold Bob seemed more interested in the cameras.

Kate asked his owner, James Bowen: “Is that purring or growling?” As soon as she left, Bob jumped on Bowen’s back.

The film is based on the best-selling book about the true story of Mr Bowen, 37, who was homeless on the streets of London and battling addiction when he met Bob, a stray who was injured. – Daily Mail
