French flair and vooma

something out of Driving Miss Daisy.

For added fun, the TFT apparatus allows you to personalise your experience, with seven different layouts, lighting designs and a selection of five colours to suit your mood or driving style. (Badass blue was my favourite.)

The Multi-Sense Drive Select system (essentially offering you an option of Eco, Neutral or Sport mode) felt somewhat redundant in a car of this capability, though:

Why would you elect for anything other than Sport with that much power in the palm of your hands, especially when one considers the way the car lags somewhat when in Eco mode in particular?

Also, with a price tag around the R450 000 mark for all the bells and whistles, not least when compared to the Golf 7 GTI or revamped Ford Focus (against whom the GT-line is positioned), some may argue the Megane may weigh too heavily on the purse strings. But one spin behind the wheel is sure to leave no doubt that it’s worth every penny!
