Competition Commission’s deputy chief held up, robbed
SOUTH Africa’s Competition Commission has confirmed reports that its deputy commissioner, Hardin Ratshisusu, was a victim of an armed robbery in Joburg on Thursday night on his retur n from business in Botswana.
Ratshisusu tweeted Police Minister Fikile Mbalula, saying: “Just been robbed at gunpoint from the airport, on Africa Day. Criminals terrorising us. Matter reported to South Africa Police Service (SAPS).”
The commission’s spokesperson, Sipho Ngwema, said Ratshisusu was mugged at gunpoint at the entrance of his complex in Midrand as he was getting off a shuttle from OR Tambo International Airport.
“It seems he was followed from the airport. He was not harmed but all his belongings were taken. The deputy commissioner was returning from a Southern African Development Community competition meeting in Botswana,” Ngwema said.
Ratshisusu is responsible for investigative and enforcement activities. He has oversight over the cartels, mergers and acquisitions, enforcement and acquisitions, policy and research and legal services divisions. – ANA
