The Social Innovation Festival, facilitated by the Red Bull Amaphiko Academy, is a celebration of community spirit designed to showcase the achievements of grassroots entrepreneurs creating social change. Tomorrow, Tsweu Street in Mamelodi will be closed off from traffic and the surrounding area. The Social Innovation Festival is the culmination of the residential program, and seeks to provide an opportunity for residents of Mamelodi to gather, interact and discover their neighbourhoods from the vantage point of car-free streets, and to welcome visitors from other neighbourhoods. The festival route will include a journey through innovative ideas from Red Bull Amaphiko participants, and will also involve a range of organised and spontaneous activities on the street. The festival will continue into the evening with two Red Bull Studio Night Parties hosted at Jack Budha and Thibo’s Café featuring the musical talents of Jullian Gomes, Sir LSG, Snow Deep, Banques, Kid Fonque, Bruce Loko, 2Lani The Warrior, Boere and more. Tickets are R50 at the door from 6PM. Tsweu Street in Mamelodi will be closed to motorised traffic on 28 May from 6AM to 6PM, and the festival will open at 10AM. Everyone is invited to this celebration of community spirit and creativity. For more info go to
