WHITE MONOPOLY CAPITAL DOES EXIST

-

THE notion that WMC (white monopoly capital) is merely a concept dreamt up by Bell Pottinger and Andile Mngxitama’s Black First, Land First (BLF) cell is fallacious. WMC does exist. South Africa’s economy remains in the hands of the white minority. Which racial group owns the most land and about ¼ of the shares on the JSE? To deny this simple truth is to deny the story of South Africa. Before Bell Pottinger and BLF sympathisers get too excited, #WMC is being touted for nefarious ends, therefore it should have no place in our South African lexicon. Its purpose is to foment racial tensions, thereby giving credence to the need for so-called “radical economic transformation” (RET). We must keep our wits about us so that talk of WMC and RET does not overcome our faculties of reasoning. Pravin Gordhan and Mcebisi Jonas will be the main speakers on these two concepts at the University of Johannesburg on July 26..

Countries in these conflict zones spend more then $70 billion a year on offensive armaments. It was Shimon Perez who said: “First and foremost we must acknowledge the futility of war, the Arabs cannot defeat Israel on the battlefield, Israel cannot dictate the conditions for peace to the Arabs.” The dangerous strategy of unrestricted warfare will ultimately destroy the Middle East. The fierce and bloody struggle for survival erodes the veneer of civilisation and makes savages of us all.

Secret diplomacy, military superiority and political coercion seem to all be con- tributing to a collapse of the house of cards, called a number of meaningless euphemisms such as “the quest for peace”. When major combatants have exhausted their military options, peace might become a reality. In Syria, 34 groups are fighting. History has glaringly documented that there is no solution to the conflicts engulfing the Middle East fire zone.

Continuing bloodshed in the holy lands would be catastrophic for all concerned. The peace process will never become a reality if force becomes an instrument of diplomacy. War strategy brings destruction unimagin- able two decades ago, such as drone attacks, cluster bombs, chemical weapons and missile strikes, Asymmetric warfare, involves indiscriminate violence against civilians on a massive scale.

During the Nuremberg Trials, chief prosecutor Robert H Jackson said: “The wrongs which we seek to condemn and punish have been so calculated,so malignant, and so devastating that civilisation cannot tolerate their being ignored because it cannot survive their being repeated”. We ignore his message at our own peril.
