Quirky, delicious food and drink
WORKSHOP 55 is a unique experience that combines the very best of finely crafted drinks and locally and internationally influenced food served in a laid back setting.
It also has one of the largest selections of local and imported gins I’ve seen in Johannesburg, so enjoy a selection of different dishes with an artisanal gin.
“A G&T is great and putting a slice of lemon in it and calling it a day is not what we do,” said executive head chef Alex Webber.
I do like the crisp, refreshing taste of a G&T, especially on a warm summer evening, but I can’t drink too many, so luckily there’s a good wine list.
Workshop 55 has chosen to stay away from the usual suspects and offer you something a little different, a little out of the ordinary.
You pay a set amount for three dishes on the food and dessert menu – tapas-style dishes portioned so that you can enjoy the selection rather than eat a huge meal.
Try the smoked pork belly with honey and soy-glazed five-spice rhubarb, parsnip puree, fire-roast peanuts, crackling, or the irresistible cajun-style oysters grilled with smoked apple.
Workshop 55 is at 55 7th Avenue,
Parktown North.
