No more penalties after Ribery’s rant

PROSECUTORS in Munich will not charge Bayern winger Franck Ribery for the fall-out from his eating a gold-covered steak last month.

Despite two complaints about Ribery’s comments being received, no action would be taken, as the remarks he made online were not directed towards specific people, investigators said on Thursday.

Ribery, 35, was fined by the club after he responded to at times harsh and insulting criticism for posting a photo of having been served the meal in a famous Dubai restaurant, with an expletive-filled rant on his private social media channels. | dpa
