Baroka eyeing Makola?

-

Baroka FC are looking to enquire about the services of one of Orlando Pirates’ out of favour midfielders, in Mpho Makola.

Makola has fallen down the pecking order at the Soweto giants, having made just two league appearances for the Buccaneers in the current 2018/19 campaign. Following his lack of game-time, sources have indicated that Baroka have identified Makola as a potential transfer target.

The source added that the Limpopo-based club are looking to potentially approach Pirates in the upcoming January transfer window, to enquire about the availability of the 32-year-old.

It was reported in January, this year, that Pirates have extended Makola’s contract, with the player’s deal expected to run until June 30, 2019.

In context, the player will be able to put pen to paper on a pre- contract with any interested suitor in January of 2019, once he enters into the final six months of his existing deal. Baroka could look to land him on a cut-free price in the new year, or look to land him on a pre-contract.

Pirates, on the other hand, could sell the player in January and avoid losing him on a free, or send him out on a loan and include a clause that the player will be bought after the loan stint.

Makola was linked to Cape Town City last season and, while there has been no confirmed interest in the player of late, don’t be surprised to see the Capebased side reignite their interest.

In a flash poll conducted on the Soccer Laduma website, 50% of the readers believe that Mpho Makola has still got a role to play at Orlando Pirates.
