Soccer Laduma

Not sold… on the idea!

Bloemfontein Celtic’s club boss, Max Tshabalala, has been transparent about the challenge of running the club, especially after MTN pulled out as a sponsor. In a frank and emotional interview with Soccer Laduma, published in issue 1076, he poured his heart out and reassured the public that changes were in place as there were offers on the table to get the club back on its feet. That was in June. Four months down the line, the club is still in a position where players have been threatening to down tools as salaries have been paid only to some, while others have received theirs at a later date than was been stipulated on their contracts. What has happened to the offers that were apparently on the table? Well, what is known is that Sinki Leshabane and Dr Moeketsi Mosola showed interested in buying the club from the embattled Tshabalala and negotiations started taking place, but the deal was scuppered after it emerged that Tshabalala reportedly owed SARS in the region of R43 million. Furthermore, it has been reported that Tshabalala failed to disclose important information to the potential buyers regarding the club and the full extent of the dire situation. As it were, the would-be owners were reportedly unhappy about this and, on the other side, Tshabalala was vocal in the media about his unhappiness with their backtracking on the deal, as he revealed that there was a promise they would help in the running of the club while these issues were being attended to. In the Siya Special of Soccer Laduma issue 1093, the crew looked at the facts behind the saga and now we give the supporters a chance to have their say.
