City target Mobara for January?

-

Word coming out of Cape Town is that Cape Town City are targeting Orlando Pirates utility player, Abbubaker Mobara, for the January transfer window.

According to Siya sources, City could look at signing the Bafana Bafana international on a sixmonth loan deal, until the end of the season.

The Cape-based side has been linked to the 24-year-old in the past, together with Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits. There was talk of a move during the July/ August transfer window, though the young player landed up staying with the Soweto giants.

Mobara has entered into the last year of his contract with Bucs and will be in a position to sign a pre-contract elsewhere in January, should Bucs and the player opt against extending his stay beyond the current 2018/19 campaign.

However, it seems that Mobara’s

last six months at Bucs could be spent away from the club, with a possible loan spell at City on the cards.

Mobara would be linking up with Riyaad Norodien at the Citizens, should he make the move, with the duo having played together at Ajax Cape Town and Pirates, and having ironically joined Bucs in a combined deal, back in 2016.

Mobara was appointed as the Bucs vice- captain last year, though has fallen out of favour at the club since, and a move out of the Soweto giants is looking ever more likely as 2019 approaches.
