Bucs keen on Rikhotso?

-

News reaching the Siya crew is that Orlando Pirates have identified Tshepo Rikhotso as a potential target, and that Bloemfontein Celtic could be open to the sale in an attempt to alleviate their financial pressures.

Celtic’ financial challenges have been well publicised and it is no secret that the current owner, Max Tshabalala, is wanting to sell the club to potential investors. Several buyers have been linked to the club over the months, though no deal has materialised to date, and while the Free State-base side continues to seek a solu- tion to their dire financial position, another player has been linked with an exit.

Alfred Ndengane was released by Celtic earlier this month and his move to Pirates is believed to be as good as done, with the only missing element being the Sea Robbers’ official announcement.

It was reported that Celtic are set to cash in on around R5 million for Ndengane, which would ease some of the financial pressure, and indications are that Rikhotso could be heading in the same direction and linking up with Ndegane.

Rikhotso recently put pen to paper on a new contract with Celtic, a deal that will see him tied down until 2023. However, with the latest news reaching the Siya crew, the 25- year- old could be heading out sooner rather than later.

It is believed that Celtic will be open to the sale, should the ‘right’ offer be tabled, and that Bucs view Rikhotso as a long-term replacement for Happy Jele. Like Jele, Rikhotso can play at right back and central defence, and would be seen as a welcomed addition to coach Milutin Sredojevic’s squad.
