Chiefs lead in Jantjie race?

-

Sinethemba Jantjie is regarded as one of the best wingers in the PSL and, as he approaches the last six months of his contract with Free State Stars, the race to sign the player is hotting up.

Jantjie has been linked with an exit from the Bethlehem-based club for a couple of years. The likes of Bidvest Wits, Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have all been linked to the player over the seasons.

Last year both Downs and Chiefs were reportedly keen on the player but the reported R5 million price tag caused the two clubs to shy away. Earlier this year, during the January transfer window, it was indicated that Stars had dropped the asking price and were wanting to cash in on around R3 million for the player.

Again, the player did not leave the club, although he is now in a position where he can sign a pre-contract in just over two months’ time. The 29-year-old will see his current contract with Ea Lla Koto expire on June 30, 2019, which means that he can open talks up with any interested suitors at the turn of the new year.

According to Siya sources Wits, Chiefs, Pirates, Sundowns and SuperSport United are all aware of the player’s situation and keeping close a close on it... with keen interest.

According to the sources, Chiefs are the frontrunners to land Jantjie’s signature and could aim to land the player during the January transfer window, and avoid a bidding war altogether at the end of the 2018/19 campaign.
